Course Description: This course, designed for the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), provides information regarding the various components of the Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC)/Speech Generating Device (SGD) assessment. The course includes a review of AAC terminology, discussion of several assessment framework models, an overview of the AAC assessment process, introduces the participant to a variety of AAC assessment tools, highlights the importance of feature matching, device trials, and provides information regarding the key components required in the AAC/ SGD report for funding. The goal of this course is to increase the SLP’s comfort level when completing the AAC/SGD assessment.
